Incredible Tutor™ Geek Peek

Your Incredible Tutor™ math and science titles provide your students with a ruler for use with measurement problems. Like the pre-printed rulers included on the state-mandated test formula charts, the Incredible Tutor™ ruler includes both inches and centimeters.

However, unlike the pre-printed rulers on the charts that accompany the tests, Incredible Tutor™’s ruler can be easily manipulated to serve a student’s needs. In fact, the Incredible Tutor™ ruler can be rotated, dragged, and nudged according to a student’s particular requirements. Even the orientation of the ruler can be changed!

Those math and science problems that require a ruler will automatically have a button that students can click on to access it. But, if for some reason a student wants to access the ruler for other types of problems, she can easily bring it up using the resource button.

Because screen resolution sizes vary from computer to computer, on-screen objects may not appear true to size. Therefore, it’s important that students use only the Incredible Tutor™ ruler when doing problems in the program. An ordinary ruler might not match the item on the screen in the proper scale. Since the Incredible Tutor™ ruler scales with any graphics in a question, the measurements will be correct regardless of the screen size or resolution.

Add 'em Up—Ten Years
with Sleek Corporation

Sleek Software is proud to celebrate two ten-year anniversaries this year. Two of our employees, Don Thompson and Jenny Medford, have seen the company through its early establishment to the Sleek Corporation it is today.

Don, a software engineer, remembers when Sleek was small enough that the employees participated in several different roles in the company. Now, Sleek has specific employees for content, marketing, and graphic design, but ten years ago, everyone pitched in to get the product out and recognized.

Jenny, our webmaster and graphic designer, counts this early atmosphere as one of the reasons she has stayed with Sleek Corporation so long. She has had the chance to expand her experience in areas she might not normally have tried. This opportunity has allowed her to “take on new challenges and grow professionally and creatively.”

They both have noted changes in public education during the last 10 years. Don remarks that he sees much more technology than was previously in the schools, including entire IT departments that weren’t there before. Jenny points out that the schools have less government funding today. This shift in spending has provided the opportunity for other sources to step forward, thereby giving parents and private organizations a bigger role in public education.

When Jenny and Don are away from work, they enjoy being with their families. Jenny says her six-year old loves singing along to David Bowie while her two-year old prefers Ray Charles. She also enjoys gardening and spending time with her friends.

Don is rumored to enjoy cooking, though you might not get him to readily admit it. He also enjoys time with his two children.

Sleek Corporation has seen much growth over the past ten years and the contributions from Jenny and Don have played a large part in its development. We are pleased to celebrate this milestone with them both.
